Here are some updates on what's happening in the Keystone Transit Career
Ladder Partnership initiative:
- Pittsburgh: Despite a fire alarm going off
in the middle of the press conference that was convened on the
31 st Floor of the Regional Enterprise Tower in Pittsburgh to celebrate the
expansion of the Keystone Partnership to the Port Authority and ATU Local #85
in Pittsburgh, participants and the press stayed to complete the festivities.
Attached is a group photo of some of the dignitaries at the event.

- Philadelphia : The second Keystone Technical
Preparation Class and first Keystone Introduction to Computers Class
began this week in the Philadelphia area.
- Washington DC: Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) International
President Warren George requested that copies of the recently published
Keystone Statewide Newsletter be distributed at an upcoming ATU national
legislative conference.
- Harrisburg : The Keystone Transit
Career Ladder Partnership will have a presence at the upcoming PA Public
Transportation Association (PPTA) Spring Conference and EXPO on March 30,
31 and April 1, 2004 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. Additional
information on the Conference can be obtained at PPTA's website www.ppta.net
- Philadelphia : Between July 1, 2003 and December
31, 2003, a total of 459 workers received Keystone sponsored training in
Philadelphia. Of this number, 356 individuals received training in bus
maintenance and 92 individuals received training in rail maintenance.
- Pittsburgh : The Pennsylvania Transit
Maintenance Labor-Management Workgroup met in Pittsburgh last week and
addressed a number of issues including attendance in Keystone courses outside
Philadelphia. Co-Chairs Charlie Shilk and John Remark also created a sub-committee
to begin ground-up planning for next year's Keystone proposal.
- Statewide: Recent stories on the Keystone
Transit Career Ladder Partnership have appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
(February 28, 2004), Philadelphia METRO (March 2, 2004) and the Philadelphia
Tribune (February 17, 2004).
