Here is the weekly E-Newsletter with the news items on the Keystone Transit Career Ladder Partnership initiative:

  • Harrisburg: Keystone Transit officials were invited by the PA Department of Labor and Industry to provide an overview of the program to a group of organizations from across the state that are assisting different industry clusters in the manufacturing sector. Department officials believe that the Keystone Transit project may provide a model for working in other industries. The presentation is being conducted Wednesday, May 05, 2004 at the Dixon Center in Harrisburg.

  • York : The HVAC Refrigeration Theory Keystone/PennTRAIN course kicked off yesterday at Rabbittransit in York, Pennsylvania. Doug Greenwood is the course instructor.

  • Harrisburg :  Over 20 individuals representing labor, management and vendors participated in the statewide meeting of PA Transit Maintenance L/M Workgroup (Keystone and PennTRAIN) meeting last Friday at the headquarters of the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association (PPTA). Bill George, President of the PA AFL-CIO met with labor representatives prior to the joint meeting. Marti Pierce, President of PPTA, met with the management representatives prior to the joint meeting.

  • Pittsburgh :  The Pittsburgh Policy Steering Committee will be meeting this Thursday. One of the items under discussion is the plan to train 144 to 164 people by end of their first fiscal year in the immediate needs identified by the labor/management workgroups.

  • Harrisburg : Tom Mathews informs us that the second printing (with minor revisions) of the Keystone Booklet "Partnership: Training & Skill-Building in PA Public Transportation: A Briefing for Policy Makers" is complete. Copies can be ordered from the Keystone Statewide Project Coordinator.

  • Philadelphia : Stu Bass informs us that the second Philadelphia Keystone Newsletter is complete. Copies can be ordered from the Keystone Statewide Project Coordinator.
