Here is the weekly E-Newsletter with the news items on the Keystone Transit Career Ladder Partnership initiative:

  • Philadelphia : 744 individuals have been trained so far this fiscal year in the Philadelphia portion of the Keystone Partnership (as of April 1, 2004 ). The breakout is as follows:
      Bus Maintenance - 555
      Rail Maintenance - 95
      Power  - 37
      Facilities  - 32
      Elev.& Escalator - 14
      Millwright - 8
      Computer   - 3

  • Pittsburgh : Labor and management representatives are in the final discussions with the Community College of Allegheny College for the development and delivery of a number of Keystone transit related course this fiscal year including Plumbing, Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Electricity.

  • Philadelphia : Representatives from TWU Local #234 and SEPTA are in the finishing stages of their second local Newsletter.

  • Harrisburg : Among the items on the agenda of the PA Transit Maintenance L/M Workgroup (Keystone and PennTRAIN) meeting this Friday at PPTA headquarters in Harrisburg is the circuit rider program, fiscal year close-out and program year 4 planning.

  • Reading : Mike Anceravige, member of the Standards Sub-committee, recently took a position with the Berks Area Reading Transportation Authority ( BARTA ) as Maintenance Supervisor. Congratulations Mike! Mike reports that BARTA is very interested in sending mechanics to many of the up-coming Keystone/PennTRAIN training courses.

  • Washington : $500,000 for the Community Transportation Development Center was included in the FY-2004 Transportation Appropriations bill and an additional $100,000 was included in the FY-2004 Labor Appropriations bill at the initiative of Senator Arlen Specter, Chair of the Senate Labor Appropriations Subcommittee.

  • State College : Cindy Conaway and Tom Mathews report that 10 trainees from properties across the state are attending the Principles of Engines & Transmissions training at the Centre Area Transportation Authority this week being conducted by H&M Technical Services.
