Here is the weekly E-Newsletter with the news items on the Keystone Transit
Career Ladder Partnership initiative:
- Erie : Two (2) maintenance mechanics
from the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) have signed up for
Keystone courses and management representatives will be meeting with the
Keystone Project Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator on May 29, 2004 to
discuss the program.
- Pittsburgh: Keystone Coordinators Kevin Barrett and
Bob Williams report that 62 hourly maintenance employees in the Port Authority's
Way Department have signed up to take a Principles of Track Maintenance
Course. This 12-part course will provide the Way Department with a foundation
of track and right-of-way maintenance and operations.
- Pittsburgh : ATU Local #85 and the
Port Authority are working together with its local community college to
refine and schedule courses for hourly employees in May and June, 2004.
These courses include Basic Electrical, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Plumbing
and HVAC Basic Principles of Operation.
- Philadelphia : Three of the labor/management
workgroups (Bus, Rail and Facilities) are working together to develop curriculum
for new employees.
- Harrisburg : The next meeting of the
statewide Pennsylvania Transit Maintenance Labor-Management Workgroup will
be held on April 30, 2004 at the headquarters of the Pennsylvania Public
Transportation Association at 600 N. Third Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101.
