Here is the weekly E-Newsletter with the news items on the Keystone Transit
Career Ladder Partnership initiative:
- Erie: John Stoy, a Maintenance Mechanic
from the Altoona Metro Transit, member of ATU Local #801and member of the
Keystone Statewide Standards Committee, along with Charlie Shilk, the Maintenance
Manager at the Area Transportation Authority of North Central PA (ATA),
Chair of the PPTA Maintenance Committee and Co-Chair of the Keystone Standards
Committee, met with representatives from CAMTech this past Monday to discuss
the possible use of a Mobile Training Center for the PPTA Circuit Rider
Program for smaller transit properties.
- Philadelphia: SEPTA and TWU officials
met last week to begin planning for the Fiscal Year 2004-2005 Budget. Working
with SEPTA training representatives and TWU representatives, EDSI consultants
continue to develop Keystone curricula for Millwrights, Electricians, Rail/Bus
Body and Full Rail Vehicle. Once completed, this Keystone developed curricula
will be available for all appropriate statewide properties.
- Pittsburgh: Yesterday the Pittsburgh
Policy Steering Committee met at the Port Authority's Manchester Maintenance
Facilities. Among the Policy Steering Committee members are the Port Authority's
Chief Operation Officer, Stephen Banta and ATU Local #85 President Patrick
McMahon. The Committee heard from Mr. Ken Mall from EDSI that the Job Analysis
was completed on March 25, 2004 with the interviewing of over 125 subject
matter experts regarding 50 + classifications. Skill Assessments will be
created by April 30th and administered by May 24th . The Workgroups should
receive the Skill Gap Analysis by June 11 th . The Committee also addressed
how to meet the immediate training needs identified by the labor/management
Workgroups.
- Harrisburg : Frank Kelley, Bookkeeper
for the Keystone Program, reports that all invoices have been paid and
are up-to-date. Please let him or the Project Coordinator know of any outstanding
invoices.
- Aliquippa : The four-day course Principles
of Engines and Transmissions will begin next Monday at Beaver County
Transit in beautiful downtown Aliquippa (Bill George's Hometown).
- Statewide: The course schedule for upcoming Keystone
sponsored maintenance courses can be located at http://www.keystonetransit.org/CourseSchedule.htm
- Erie : As the last remaining Class
3 property in Pennsylvania not involved with the Keystone Program, representatives
from the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority have agreed to meet with the
Keystone Project Coordinator to discuss the program.
